American Idol Reaction: Top 6 Results With just six contestants left, it’s really anyone’s game on Idol at this point. Oh, sure we could argue that even with her less than brilliant performance last night, Crystal Bowersox is still a shoe-in for the finale but if she were eliminated tonight, she wouldn’t be the first Idol contestant to go before their time.
Tonight’s results episode opened with a performance by Rascal Flatts, rather than starting off with the overly-smiley group performance. This week’s Ford commercial tapped into the vampire craze as we got to see the contestants get fanged up for the ad. After plugging Ford, the episode plugged Shred: Forever After with a package featuring the contestants getting a chance to visit the recording studio where voiceovers for the movie are done. Cut to the contestants watching the movie. Then cut back to the Idol stage where Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas are to further plug the movie. Buy a Ford. Go see Shrek, etc. etc.
Other filler included performances by Lady Antebellum and Sons of Sylvia. Carrie Underwood intro’ed Sons of Sylvia and announced that they’d be on tour with her this year. And finally, Rascall Flatts returned to the stage to perform with Shakira.
As there are only six contestants left, that means there’s an even divide between those who are safe and those who are in the bottom three. But Ryan started the results by dividing up the group in three groups of two. After all, there’s an hour to kill before he squashes someone’s dreams on behalf of the voters.
Casey and Mike were put together. Siobhan and Lee were together. That left Crystal to stand near Aaron. As I said. It’s anyone’s game and even based on last night’s performances, I wouldn’t be able to predict who would or should be in the bottom three. America’s votes were in though and below are the bottom three:
Casey James Siobhan Magnus Michael Lynche
Mike Lynche was the first to be sent back to safety and once again, I’m forced to wonder why he was even in the bottom three to begin with. That left Casey and Siobhan to sweat it out for the final moments of the show.
Following the last commercial break, Ryan announced that Siobhan was eliminated. The quirky-cute singer won over America's heart with her style and charm, even through her weaker performances and I'm sure she'll be missed by many as this competition moves forward.
