Dr. Steven A. Schnur's new book, The Reality Diet, has recipes the entire family will enjoy--including the kids. Packed with yummy desserts (non-sugar), high-energy breakfasts, and easy-to-fix dinners, we know you'll enjoy them all, including this one for Apple Streusel.
Streusels, along with cobblers and crisps, are American classics. But like most things American, streusel has its roots in another country, in this case Germany—and Streusel is a German word meaning "sprinkling."
1/4 cup 2:90 granola
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon sugar substitute
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons light margarine, chilled and cut into pieces
Nonstick cooking spray
1 large unpeeled apple, cored and sliced
One container 2:90 vanilla yogurt with fiber (providing up to 90 calories)
Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, mix together the granola, brown sugar, sugar substitute, and cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter or 2 knives, cut the margarine into the granola until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
Spray a small, round (5-inch-diameter) baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Evenly arrange the apple slices in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with the streusel topping and bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until bubbling. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve from the baking dish topped with the yogurt.

How do you repair a gas stove when it breaks down in the middle of a dish you are whipping up? Or even before you've set that pot atop the burner? Can you determine beforehand if your gas stove has a problem and if that problem is within your (or will require) expert attention?
Compared to electric stoves, most problems with gas stoves are simple, mechanical and may be resolved with a few troubleshooting measures that you can do yourself. To repair a gas stove in your kitchen, you need only keen observation and common sense. Do-it-yourself, self-help, usually works, unless of course if at any time you smell gas, suspect a gas leak, and cannot identify where the leak is coming from. This is the time to get expert help.
On your own, here are a few tips to repair a gas stove:
What do you do when you have clogged burners? Your gas stove's burners have portholes around them through which gas is released and gets to the spark made by the igniter to light a controlled flame. Sometimes you will wonder why your burners are not lighting up even after several tries on your dial. Check out the burner portholes; they may be clogged so that gas cannot escape to reach the igniter. You can remove the burner top and grate, get the burner assembly with the portholes out, and check the clogs. In this case, you need only to clean those portholes, but do it by picking on each porthole with a toothpick or pin, making sure the hole is cleared but not deformed by your picking, brushing the holes to remove any leftover or residue, and then washing or brushing the burner completely. If this does not do it, get expert repair help already.
Can you adjust the flame setting or flame size? Ideally, you should see your stove's flame as bright blue in color and consistently burning. The blue color is the result of the proper mixture of the gas fuel and the surrounding air that assures you that the fuel is being burned efficiently. If the flame is of a yellowish or whitish color, there may be a problem with how the gas ignition is aerated or how air is mixing with the gas fuel. You not only get sooty pans this way; you also run the risk of gas being overly fed into the burner. To adjust the air and gas mixture to the safest and most efficient level, you can adjust the stove's pilot which is a screw valve located behind the control knobs. With a screwdriver, you can turn and adjust this pilot until you get a bluish flame to indicate you've reached the efficient air-gas mixture level.

Used guitar amps for sale are not difficult to find because there are so many people trying to get rid of them. The good news is there are a good deal of them out there. The downside is it will take you forever to try them all out. If you keep some simple things in mind, you won't have a problem turning up the perfect used guitar amplifier. After all, it is your money, and you want to make sure the money you are saving compared to a new model gets you the appropriate amplifier for you.
You want to make sure that the amp you're about to purchase functions well with the instrument you're planning on using it with. Just as every last guitar has its own sound or tone, so does every amplifier unit. While you can plainly plug your guitar into any amplifier and get an amplified sound, you want an amp explicitly built for a guitar. Do your homework, because you don't want to end up buying a bass amp or keyboard amp.
You'll notice that used guitar amps can be purchased for a great price. There are some individuals that thought that learning to play a guitar was for them. They went out and bought all kinds of new gear which included an costly amplifier that the music store sales associate convinced them into purchasing. Then, as it happens often, the individual determines that learning the guitar is not as easy as it appeared and they discontinue playing. This person finally sells all of the equipment at a bargain price.
A pawn shop is another place to obtain used guitar amps. This is one of the first places a person will use to unload that amplifier that never gets used and cost them a lot in the first place. Stop by a local pawn shop and take your time examining all the amplifiers, for your patience will pay off when you locate that one treasure. If you don't find one to fit your demands, don't hesitate to go to another pawn shop.
